St. John’s Ambulance Class.
A meeting wus .held op. Thursday afternoon in the PublibJ Hall for the purpose of ascertaining the feeling., among the ladies of Te Aroha on the subject of forming a class to receive instruction in the principles of rendering first aid in oases of sickness. The promoters are .to-bV'*-congratulated on the support accorded the movement. The vicar presided. . . In his introductory remaiks the Chairman pointed out the value of prompt service in cases of accident, ,howetrey> . trivial, and sickness, and touched upon, the history of the movement in England which had been attended by thogreafcest success. The vicar then asked Di Smith, who was present, to explain more fully the object of these classea in connection with the St. John’s Am- - bulance Association, and the course of study it would be necessary to undergo in order to qualify for the Society’s medal. instruction in the principles of first aid to the injured under the.anspicrs of the St. John’s Ambulance Association ;; be formed here, in Te Aroha; That Mrs Campbell act as" secretary, and Mrs McFarland- as treasurer, to \ class; (3). That the fee for the course be ss, exclusive of book and bandage ; (4). That the evening of meeting be Monday at 8 o’clock, in the Public Hall.
