It is with great regret we have to record the death of Mr John BarWr, shoemaker, who has been residing' about three years in Te Aroha. Cotaing from Saxmundham, in the County i of Suffolk, England, deceased had been in the the colony some 40 odd years. He served under the colours in First Battalion of the 12th Regiment, and went through the Maori war. On the conclusion of hostilities Jie returned to the trade he’was bred to, and commenced business in Auckland, when he married and had a family of three daughters, all of whom are now married. He leaves a widow who, we understand, is to take up her residence with one of her sons-in-law, Mr JJid®, of Te Aroha West. From what we could leirn yesterday, it appears that deceased had an apoplectic fit on Saturday afternoon last, while in. the woodshed. He never rallied, and died on Thursday afternoon. Mr fi%ber was a member of the Apglican Church. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at the Te Aroha cemetery, the vicar officiating. The deceased was 67 years of age. ‘ -
