PIAKO COUNTY COUNCIL.
The ordinary monthly mooting of the above Council was held on Thursday, 19th inst., at the Council Chambers, Morrinsville. There Crs Chepmell (chairman), Hunt, Allen, Herrie3, Hodgson, McOaw, and Harrison. Cr Gavin : being ill sent an apology for his absence. The minutes of previous meeting were read and approved. Inward and outward correspondence read and at tended to. .....
Dates of Meeting.—ln view of the altered train service to Morriusville from Lichfield, it was agreed that in future the Council's meetings be held on the third Friday in each month. Thirds —lt was agreed to call tenders to expend££B os ; 2d on the road to Gordon Settlement in the Maori Reserve, and that John McLeod receive £2 2s for work done on the outfall drain.
Foreman’s Report. —Mr George Wattam reported, as to mrn employed and work done. Mad ias sanding contract at Wairakau was fintshe I. It was agreed to ask specifications to be prepared for gravelling at Morriusyille and . Waihou, and Wattam was authoris'd to lower ah old culvert at Larney's. j Gordon Road to Wahar >a. —A letter from Mr Cadman to the secretary of the'Gordon Settlement Was redd. The 'Government having already voted £2OO for this road, Mr Cadman agreed that , the vote - should bo increased -to £357 10s, if the local bodies in the district would raise a like amount, and.one of them undertake the work, which includes a bridge over the Waihou river.—There was considerable discussion .—Or Herries was of opinion that an offer so favourable must be taken [advantage of.—The Chairman considered tjie :'County and Road Board amounts could not be increased. —lt was agreed that the Estates Com* prny, whose lands are on the line 'of road, should be.asked for a contribution. ■ •
Finance.—The Olork reported the state of finances as follows: —General fund, in credit, L 291 Is lld;Te Aroba Riding in debt, Llo7 13s 2d; Te Aroha interest, credit, L 35 5s 6d; Patetere interest, credit, L2 8s 9d; Patetere Riding, credit*,L43 Is lid, and land fund credit, Llß'los Id.
Slaughter House, Te Aroha.— Further letters were road from Richard Brennan, Mrs Brennan, and Mr Me Call, asking that Messrs Roberts and Rowe’s slaughterhouse' license should no' be renewed—These were referred to the Inspector, to be dealt with in his annual report. ' Accounts amounting to £IBO 13s 101 were passed for payment. ■ "
