(Communicated). The annual races were held here ,on Boxing Day* The attendance being the largest of any previous: years. Every arrangement possible for the comfort of visitors had been made by the Committee, and a good day’s sport Was enjoyed. The following ai*e the results ' ■ * * , Maiden Plate (1 mile) —Barmaid 1, Te Papa 2, Brokenface 3. Eleven horses started. , Splendid race from start to finish. Barmaid .passed the post first by a length; A protest was entered by the owner against Barmaid for running inside a post; the ragaj .was then given to Te Papa. • Hurdles;’ (If - miles). Fagan ;1, Plunger 2. Victor 3. Six horses faced the starter, Victor was made favorite but fe11..... : Matamata Cup—Witchhazel 1, Trevata 2, Clifton 3. Six horses started, Trevata was first away and led to the home turn, when Berry came with a great rush on Witchhazel and won by a length all out. Pony Race (l inile)—-Barmaid 1, Tepapa 2, Brokenface 3. Won easily. Flying Stakes—Trevata 1, Sambo 2, Witchhazel 3 This was the race of the day, Baker getting Trevata away at the start, was never caught.
