A COMPU-LSOEY VACCINATION CASE Dunedin, Sunday.
At Port Chalmers, David K. Pisher was charged with neglecting to have his child vaccinated. Mr Carew, SM. said the defendant had been previously convicted and fined. He was of opinion that persons should not be punished more than once for an offence. He. was not satisfied with the reading of the section that if notice was sent every month while the child was between six months and fourteen years, the person would be liable to be fined several times. He therefore dismissed the case.
FIBE AT THE THAMES ThaMkS, Sept. 30. A fire broke out in the moulding shop of Messrs A* and Gk Price’s foundry shortly after nine o’clock tonight, but fortunately very little damage was done, as the flames were quickly discovered and quenched. The firei§ supposed to have originated from a spark, as the moulders were at work casting up to about 6.30. The building is insured in the Victoria, office, but the amount is not available just .how,;' ’ . /.
