The sale of sections in the lower township, belonging to Mr T. Bradley, is to take place on Tuesday, Bth October. The property, owing to its situation, should sell well, as it is close to the railway station and the TharnesPaeroa main road. - The Public Works staff are now pushing ahead the works at this end of the railway line. v . The railway bridge is being gone on with, one of .the, 40-feet span trusses has how been placed in position, and two others, are ready to be placed in position. / The timber for the station buildings is on the ground, and as. soon as the goods shed is erected, which it is expected will be at the end of October, the centre span will be bridged across, and the river closed for steamer traffic. The funeral of the late Mr Littlejohn left the deceased’s late, residence on Sunday afternoon last for the Pukerimu cemetery, and was well showing the respect in which the deceased was held by his fellowmen. Several songs wore rendered during the evening, and a cornet solo was also given, it is hard to account for the large attendance, whether it is the singing, etc., or to, •worship.
