BAND OF HOPE.
The usual monthly gathering of those interested in the temperance cause in this district took place in theTe Aroha Town Hall on Monday evening last. The night was a perfect one, and the hall was crowded to the door. The Rev F. Gk Evans carried out the duties of'chairman,, and during the evening delivered a short aiid instructive' address. After the meeting had been opened, with prayer by the Rev T. A; Norrie, and the singing of one of Hoyle's temperance hymns, the following lengthy programme was gone through in a very satisfactory manner, and was listened to with attention r Duet, Misses Craig and Allen; recitation, “ Little Jim,” Miss Brian; song, Master H. Bennett; dialogue, Messrs: C. Tattersall and E. Turner; “The Curfew,” Miss Butcher; tableau, “ Father Dear Father Como Homo,” Miss E. Biggs, Messrs J. Allen and J. Maihgaychorus, “lio Arose,” Misses and Master Evans; glee, Misses Hirst, Allen, Biggs, and Craig; recitation, Miss Michael; reading, Mr May ; tableau, ‘‘ A Contrast, ” by number of children, and was well carried out. Tha meeting closed-with the bonediction, arid a number came forward and signed the pledge. . - ■
