PARLIAMENTARY JOTTINGS
Alexander Stuart, of Auckland, petitions through Mr Lawry, for relief in connection with certain land scrip. The Minister of Mines fears that the Government would hardly be justified in giving so high a bonus as £20,000 to Mr Siemens. Mr E. M. Smith thinks the Government should give him a more prompt and encouraging answer to the applications. A petition has been presented by Nr Button from L. M. Ludbroolc and 419 others, in favour of the introduction of religious instruction in the shape of the Irsih Nationdl Book of Scripturl Lessons into the State Schools. The Waste Lands Committee recommend the petition of William Lodder, Thomas Firman, and John O’Neill, for grants for militaiy services to the Government for consideration. J. D. Bently, of Auckland, is petitioning Parliament for a land grant for military services. Mr Massey wants ; to know if the Government intend to go on with their Representation Bill this session.
