MORRINSVILLE.

All Morrinsville turned out to the Maori races on Wednesday last. Great interest was taken in the day’s proceedings, especially in the ladies race, which was won by Mr W. Innes’ Ernest, ridden by Miss Bessie Turnbull. . i
On Wednesday evening a social was held in the school-room, the proceeds going towards the organ fund. Songs were sung by the Misses Roberts; Pickett, and Butcher, and Mr Madigan. Games/ interspersed with dances, were indulged in till midnight, and a very enjoyable evening was spent. The pleasure of the gathering was enhanced by the presence of Mr T. H. White, of Hamilton, who most kindly played the violin both in obligatos and dances.* ,
The new church is almost completed —will be quite so by tho end of the week. Four cottages on the Station road will then bo commenced by Mr Hogan, the contractor for tho church. . The flax mill is completed, and work is in full swing.
