TE AROHA HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

ANNUAL MEETING.. Tim annual meeting of the Te Aroha Horticultural Society was held in the News Office on Monday evening. Mr Strange (in the chair), and a fair attendance of members were present. The minutes of the last committee meeting were confirmed. A letter was received from Mr J. M. Hobson in reply to one from the Secretary asking the amount of his expenses as judge. Mr Hobson replied that it was a pleasure for him to act, and he would not make any charge. A unanimous vote of thanks was passed to Mr Hobson, for his services. The balance-sheet was laid on the table, and showed : Heceipts from all sources, £37 8s 9d; expenditure, £27 16s 7d ; balance in hand, £9 12s. 2d.

On the motion of Mr Evans tho balance-sheet was adopted. Some discussion took place re tho first prize certificates, several members thought they wore better than was ' necessary, and that commoner ones should be issued. It was finally resolved on the motion of Mr T. Stanley, seconded by Mr Bossons, that those to hand bo accepted and paid for.

Elect iox of Officers.— President, W. S. Allen, Esq.; Vice-Presidents, E. Y. Cox, W. H. Horries, T. Gavin, W. H. Reynolds"; Committee : A. Bowler, P. G. Evans, T. Stanley, Capt. Me Kenzie, Mclndoe, T. Taylor, J. Borrie, Hansen, Spooner, Hetherington, G. Taylor, and Jackson. Mr Evans resigned in favour of Mr Strange, who was elected chairman of the committee. Treasurer, Mr Mclndoe re-elected *, Secretary, Mr F. Wild re-elected. It was resolved that the Secretary write the Domain Board asking for the use of office for. committee, meetings. Resolved on the motion of Mr Mclndoe, seconded by Mr Hansen, that Mr Spooner be thanked for his kindness for use of office, and his past services on behalf of the Society. .■<- Proposed by Mr Strange, seconded by Mr Spooner, that Mr Hetherington bo thanked for his action re storing of trussels.

Resolved that owing to the lateness of the hour the meeting stand adjourned till Monday, the Och May. .The usual thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
