At the meetings of the Presbyterian Session, held on Monday, at Hamilton, the voting papers for the election of elders for the Presbyterian Church in Ohinenauri were opened. The voting was as follows Mr J. S. Ingram (Paeroa) 12 ; Mr McKenzie (Te Aroha), 10 ; Mr J. E, Slevin (Waihi), 9: Mr C. S. Brown (Karangahake), 9; Mr J. A. Cochrane (Te Aroha), 7 ; Mr D. McL. Wallace (Te Aroha), 7 Mr D. Craig (Wairaku), 5; Mr H. Ross (Waihou), 2; Mr R. Siuims (Waihi), 2. The first six were duly declared elected elders for the Church. We have much pleasure in recording the success of a Te Aroha boy, John Erasmus, who began his school career at Te Aroha School in February, 1884, under Mr Marsdon; seven year’s later he gained a Junior Scholarship, and attended the Thames High School; in 1893 he competed for a Senior Scholarship and obtained a certificate of proficiency; last year he was again a competitor and gained a scholarship, being second in order of merit. His latest achievements are the passing of the Junior and the Senior Civil Service examinations, in the latter of these his work was of such high merit as to gain for him special mention.
