least one of the many creeks in the county set apart for domestic purposes.

We are strongly of opinion that something should be done towards stopping all the creeks from being contaminated. The* petition had the signatures of ninetyeight bona fide residents and property owners of the district. It will be seen that Mr Cassrels made an appeal to our wooden gods of the County Council to sign the Petition in their capacity as councillors, but was met by a refusal—a result which was the only one to he expected from a body constituted as the Ohinemuri County Council is constituted.”
