McNICOL & CO'S SHEEP FAIR
On Wednesday last Messrs McNicol and Co. held their annual Sheep Fair in the Ohaupo yards, which resulted successfully, but few being passed in, and these were privately soldf afterwards at owners’ reserves. There were close ; on 20,000 of all classes penned. The falling off in prices was chiefly confined to two-tooth ewes, though Mr, Coates, of Hamilton, had a fine line of two-toptk longwool ewes, which were purchased by Mr Austin for 88 9d per head; others of a similar ’ class brought 8s sd, 7s, 7s Gd, and Bs. A line of fat longwool lambs was sold for Mr McMicken at 8s sd, and other lambs at from all prices down to Is: 9d ; two-tooth crossbred and longwool ! weathers realised as high as 8s 2d to 8s Gd Some 2-tooth halhbrefi |Rormiey Marsh owes, beRunciman, reached ':s?•< pure Lincoln ewe ■ hoggets realised 8s 4a. The Mania estate sold a few lines of 2-tooth crossbred wethers, at prices ranging ; r ? 8 to 8s 2d. Altogether, the, fair .was a satisfactory one,; both for buyers and vendors. There was a. steady demand for lambs.
