Palace.— This claim continues to turn out some‘-really excellent stuff, and the outlook of the mine seems very promising. The winze is sunk on the reef a distance of 14 or 15 feet, at this depth some good gold has been met with—in fact, nice specimens. The manager has about 20 pounds of specimens on hand, which should yield close on 20ozs of gold. They have driven about 10 feet from the bottom of the winze, also risen about 10 feet from the drive. The reef is bigger in the bottom than in any other part, being a little more than 15 inches and carrying very good gold. Work at present is being carriedout on a leader, varying from 2 to 6 inches in thickness, which crushes from 2£ to 3ozs a truck.

Loyalty. —The drive on the reef is in a distance of 130 feet; the face of the reef is about 4 feet wide. The stuff obtained therefrom is not of a showy character, but crushes well, about 2£6zs to the truck, sometimes it has gone as high as sozs a truck. The | mine up to the present has been very remunerative to the shareholders—paying all expenses and also dividends during the last twelve months.
