Mining News.

MAROTOTO

Alarototo G. and S. Mining Company. Cleaning up suit retorting for this company, at the nJwly-ereeted reduction plant on the mine, took place on Thursday, with the result that 164002 bullion were obtained from about 35 tons second class ore, and seven or "eight hundredweight first-class ore treated. The bullion has only yet been weighed roughly, but the return is considered to lie a very satisfactory one. There is still a large tonnage of similar grade ore on hand ready for treatment, and six or seven tons of first-class ore, all of which will be reduced in due course. The bullion has been sent to the Thames, where it will be melted and assayed at the Bank of New Zealand.
