TE AROHA BAND OF HOPE

There wa9 again a very good attendance nt the meeting of the local band of Hope in the Public Hal! on Monday evening, and much interest was manifested in the proceedings by all present. The chair was occupied by the Rev F. G. Evans, the Revs S. Lawry and T. A. Norrie, being also present on tho platform. The pr jgramme prepared for the meeting was a very interesting one, and was as follows : Opening Hymn, No’ 72 ; Prayer by the Rev T. A Norrie ; Hoyle’s Hymn, No. 57 ; Address by the rev. Chairman ; rotation by Master Jas. Took ; Hoyle’s Hymn, No. 180; address by the Rev T. A. Norrie ; song, Stand like the Brave, Rev S. Lawry; dialogue, The Evening Call, Masters W. Maingay and R. Smiles ; Hoyle’s Hymn, No. 92; recitation by Miss Gribble. The report of the Secretary . ( Rev S. Lawry) was read, and regarded as satisfactory. It stated that the meetings, although not so numerous as could have been wished, bad been well attended ; and the receipts had exceeded the expenditure, leaving in hand a balance of 17s Id. The election of a Committee and office bearers resulted as follows : President, Rev F. G. Evans ; Vice-Presidents, Rev J. Law and Mr J. Ilott ; Secretary, Rev T. A. Norrie ; Assistant Secretary, Mr W. Simmonds; Treasurer, Mr J. A. Cochrance ; organist, Miss F. G. Maingay ; Committee : Mesdames Ilott and Blencoue, Messrs J. McCall and F. Wild, The meeting closed with prayer by the Rev S. Lawry, after the usual votes of thanks had been passed.
