THOROUGHBRED STALLION FOR AUCKLAND.
Nothing further has transpired with regard to shedding light on the name of the stallion purchased for Wellington Park, 3 but the gentleman who received the cablen gram from Mr T. Morrin informs mo he feels certain that it is Castor, recently inr ported from England by Mr W. 11, Wilson. Castor is a most fashionably-bred horse. He is by Zealot (son of Hermit) from a mare by Stirling from Leda, by Weatherbit from < Wish, by Touchstone. While on the turf Castor’s best performance was winning the Liverpool Cup in July, 1887. He ran third for the City and Suburban Handicap in the same season and second for the • Northumberland Plate. For this race also 1 he started favourite in the following year at 5 to 2, but he only finished sixth, Matin 1 Bell being the winner. Going back to his , three-year-old career, Castor’s record is f found to be a very good one. He won , 10 races out of 13 starts and twice ran 3 second.
