DOMAIN BOARD .

TRr ordinary monthly meeting of Te Aruba Hot Springs Domnin Board was held on Saturday evening last. Present ; Messrs T. Gavin (chairman;, Ilott, Lipsey, and Allien Minutes of the previous monthly meeting vvere read and confirmed. Correspondence : From the Government Auditor, notifying return of the annual balance-sheet) and advising that in future cheques be made payable to order : [Also stating that where any person asked for payment by cheque to be sent per post, the request complied with, the cheque never reaching its destination the loss would fall on the party who so requested . On the other hand, if the Boi f ' made payment through post by cheque without being asked to do so by the creditor, in the event of the cheque not reaching its destination tho loss would fall on the Board.] Free Baths : From Mrs Boftnelly, an invalid, requesting that the Board kindly allow her free use of the baths for a time, as owing to long illness and lack of means she was not in a position to pay for them. The Chairman stated with respect to this application that Mr Ilott had authorised the caretaker to allow Mrs Donnelly free use cf the baths until the present meeting From enquiries he (the Chairman) had made he believed the case Was a very deserving one, and lie moved that Mr Ilott’s action be approved, and that the applicant be granted free use of the baths for a further period of one month ; seconded bv Mr Lipsey and carried.

Out-door Service in Domain : Resolved, on the motion of Mr Ilott, seconded by Mr Lipsey, that permission to bold out-door services in the Domain (granted at previous meeting for one month, subject to ih services being held in day light, on Sundays, and not to extend beyond one hour) be granted till countermanded, subject to same conditions as before. No. 5 Bath-House : dome discussion took place with respect to the necessity of having this bath-house again made, avail able for use, the Board being unanimously of opinion this work should be at once proceeded with, now that the Board were in funds. Resolved on the motion of Mr Abie’ - , seconded by the Chairman, that Mr Crump, Engineer, be instructed to prepare plans and specifications for alterations and improvements to No 5 spring and bath house, and also repairs to ticket office ; and that tenders he invited for the work.

It wai agreed that the plans, etc., be inspected and approved by the Chairman, before advertising for tenders, and ihat a special meeting be convened for opening and accepting a tender. Lariikinisin : Mr Ilott stated that since the last monthly in ‘eting, some lady visitors had complained to the Caictrker of being much annoyed by remarks from young men,lounging about in the Octagon; and several visitors had complained of young fellows using the Octagon for sitting about smoking in. Some discussion ensued, it being generally admitted that a good deal of annoyance Was caused in the manner referred to,in direct violation of the known rules and regulations of the Board. It was further stated the police had been requested to endeavour to ascertain the names of offenders and prosecute them. Mr Ilott said ho had also, since these last complaints had been made, Been Sergeant Emerson on the subject, who had promised to take steps to have it put a stop to.
