McNICOL AND CO.’S SHEEP FAIR.
Messrs McNicol and Co.’s sheep fair at Ohaupo on Thursday brought together the largest attendance of the public that have up to this time ever congregated at this centre, and notwithstanding the continuance of the dry weather the bidding was spirited, and the sheep brought full prices, good stock of al! description sellingreadily. For good, sound young sheep the demand was most active. Some 3,2,000 to 14,000 eheep passed through the auctioneel’s hands during the day, those ‘passed’ during the sale being disposed of privately after the sale. The Alangatutu wethers were quitted .in one line at 9s. A large number of longwool and merino rams were brought forward the demand not equalling the supply. Among the stud sheep theie were good representatives from the well-known flocks of Messrs Storey, Seddon, McNicol, Barugh, Wallace, and others. The higest price paid was five and u-half guineas for a twotooth Lincoln ram, bred by Mr Wallace and purchased by Mr Bosanko, of Te Awamutu the average price being about four guineas. Mr McNiohol’s stud ewes were withdrawn, the price, offered »ot reaching the reserve,.
