Alterations are also being made in the wheel pit, as it has been decided that only two Pelion wheels be used/ instead of three as at first contemplated. [Fio n our own Correspondent.] Crown.— Owing to changes in (he management of this min/only a small ninpber of
hands are employed at present. The late manager (Capt. Coward) left on Wednesday last. I have not yet learned who is to he his surcessor, but think the directors will have no need to go out of the district for a thoroughly competent and trustworthy man to take charge of their mine and battery. The Cassel Company’s works are at a standstill (or almost so) pending fresh arrangements being made in the Crown mine. In the meantime they are cleaning up all quartz left at the Ivarangahake Experimental plant, which will be treated at the Crown works.
