Firth’s old mill (the land and bnihiinus, with mill, machinery, engine, boiler, and all fixtures), was offered at auction to-day. The bidding reached £6OOO ; the property being bought by the mortgagee’s VISIT BY AUSTRALIAN CRICKET TEAM. Mr F. C. Cheesemon received a cable gram from Sydney to-day, stating that a team of cricketers from that place had left by the Arawata yesterday afternoon; they should then fore reach Auckland on Tuesday next. The team is not a professional one, and is bent more upon pleasure than profit, gate money being a secondary consideration. PUHIPUHI FOREST REPORTED ON FIRE, It is stated by a gentleman who arrived from Whangarei last night, that when he left that place the evening previous, Inspector Gordon had just been informed that the Puhipuhi forest was on fire in the centre, and he was about to leave for the scene of the outbreak; the news has not, however, been confirmed to-day from Whangarei.
