ROYAL OAK RETURNS.
CoROMANDEL, Nov. 30. About 1001b specimens were obtained yesterday (Friday). There is a fair show left.
RISE IN ROYAL OAK SHARES. Some excitement took place on the Exchange to-day when a telegram was posted from the manager of the Royal Oak Gold Mining Company at CoromandeJ, stating that another 1001b of specimens had been obtained and that there was a good show left. Yesterday morning shares were offered at 2s 9d, but the telegram thab 501b of specimens had been obtained caused a rise to 4s, at which figure there were buyers early this morning,, When the brokers met at 10 a.m. sales were reported at 4s, aL which figme there were then buyers, but no sellers. The second telegram caused a further rise, and shares changed hands at 6s 9d, while sellers were asking as high as 7s per share.
Thames, Nov. 30. Warden's Court. —At the usual sitting of the Warden's Court yesterday applications were dealt with as follows : — D. R. Gellion, Eldorado, Tararu, adjourned until the first Court day in January ; J. Bice, Norfolk extended, Tararu, adjourned to 12th December ; J. M. McLaren, Crcesus, Karaka, granted ; Wm. Mears, Sons of j Freedom, Moanataiari Creek, adjourned to 12th December ; Thos. Scanlan, Onyx, adjourned I2ch December; J. W. Walker, 4 water races at WaiLi, withdrawn ; T A. Dunlop, protection for Queen of Beauty, granted for four months ; Jas. Darrow, tramway, Upper Moanataiari, adjourned 12th December ; J. W. Walker, protection for three months for the Nut, Waihi, granted. The remainder of the business was purely of local interest. Trenton.— The Saxon drive at the No. 5 level has now just about reached this Company's boundary. In the drive from the bottom of the Trenton Company's own shaft the country has again changed, and is now tight. Lonk Haxd.— The reef recently met with in the low level has been left behind, as it was not running in the course of the drive. The country being penetrated is very favourable for progress, and excellent headway continues to be made by the contractor. At the magazine level the Moa reef is being stripped preparatory to another breaking - down taking place, while the stopes on the several leaders and the Manchester reef are producing quartz of the usual remunerative grade. Royal Oak. — The mine manager reports, "Daring the week there has been a decided improvement throughout the mine. ' In breaking down yesterday about 501bs of fair stone was obtained, and about lOlbs to-day, leaving a fair show of gold going down. The tributers have also been doing well during the week ; they have got about J 701b of specimens and picked stone and gold etill showing going up ; also on the cross-reef, in rising from No, 1 level, about 41ba specimens was got. 1
