PURIPUHI SILVER FIELD.

Information of a reliable character concerning thB means of access to the Puhipuhi silver field has been furnished by Mr A. Christey, who has pegged out a large section of ground, and ib has been placed at our disposal. He says : «' There is a good road from Taumarere railway station to the boundary of Puhipuhi, 8f miles in a straight line. Seven miles of this can be galloped over. A dray with two tons of machinery can go over it. There is nob a creek to cross or a culvert to make ; in fact I rode over yesterday, and there was not a drink of water for man or horse. This shows the level nature of the country. The last part of the road i 3 decidedly rough , it is simply a bush track cut by Mr Parson, a homestead settler, for his private use, and it has been a good deal cub up by us Puhipuhi visitors." The writer adds: "It i* to be hoped the members of our County Council will interest themselves in the matter, for the tacilities by way of Kawakawa are great. Quartz could be conveyed from Puhipuhi to the station for 5s per ton when the road is improved, so looking at it from an Auckland point of view or a Kawakawa or Puhipuhi view, much time and expense would be saved by the improvement of our roads." From Wlnngarei, Mr Christey says, the Puhipupi field is 60 miles distant.— Auckland Star.
