[From our own Correspondent.] Karangahake, Thursday. Crown G.M. Co. : In this mine driving anJ stoping is being carried on with fairly good results, three levels are in full swing. At the battery very little remains to be done to complete the arrangements for permanent crushing. Cassel Gold Extracting Co.: A trial run of this Company's machinery took place to-day, when everything seemed to run in a satisfactory manner. Imperial : In this mine driving en No. 2 is being CArried on with a good show in the face. Adeline Amalgamated : I loam that this Company intend to start operations in a couple of week's tinv\ Kenilworth.— (Moore's Tribute): This party, having exhausted their block, are now engaged in bagging the ore to forward to Waiorongomai Smelting Furni cc. Shepherd's Tribute : From this sec-
tion a parcel of rich ore was disposed of j to Mr H. C. Wick, which has also gone to Waioron^omai for treatment. Mammoth : Mr J. Liddell, who has j |)een prospecting this gronn 1 for some months, is now engaged in opening 1 up and re-timberirg some of the old woi Icings, in expectation of striking a patch. I hope hia expectations will be more than realised to reward him for his indomitable perseverance. Ivanhoe and Truro : (White's Tri bute): This party crushed 20 tons at the Ivanhoe battery for a return cf 23^ ozs of good quality gold. Christchurch Battery : This plant is kept £?oing on stuff from the Company's own mines, vrhicii I learn is looking well. Gorge Road : The contractors for this work (Messrs Kelly and PoHon) are making capital headway,, and I think by Christmas will be able to show the croakers that a good road can be got through the Ohiuemuri Gorge. The contractors inform me that they are using the Rackarock explosive with good results. Accident : Mr P. Fergu-son (who, along with Mr Wilson) was returning ; from a visit to- the Crown mines on 111 1 Tuesday evening,, met with an accident through his horse losinsr its footing and rolling down a very steep sidl'img into the 1 gully., where it had to remain, until next morning. It was-, however, then got up ito the track very little the worse, and Mr Ferguson, I am glad to say, escaped 1 without injury. '
