WAIORONGOMAI.
Te Aroha S.and G. M. Co. : 'Matting' of tho ore on hand is st*H in progress, ami will probably be completed by Monday or Tuesday next ; after which smelting with the wet jacket furnace will be resumed. The second rum of the smelter will probably last for about three weeks. Some 25 to EO tons of the parcel of ore being sent from the Champion mine, Tui, has already been carted out. Mr 11. C. Wick is also sending another parcel of ore, some from Karangahake and some trom Marototo; whilst Mr J. H, Moore is forwarding some from the Kenihvorth, Karanghake ; all of which will be pnt through the smelter. Several additional hands will probably be put on at the mines next week. Mr Patton, manager of the Broken Hill Proprietary Co.'s mine, spent the greater part of Wednesday looking over the Company's plant, and was out again on Thursday, and on hid return from Auckland next week he will probably vi3it the mines. We may state, however, Mr Patton has come to New Zealand entirely on acoount of his health, and his visit to Waiorongomai is not an official visit of inspection, but he is a very old friend of Mr Howells, they having been engagod in mining together in America twenty- four years ago.
