AMERICAN WATCH. BREAKING.
During 1 the last few months there have been witnessed some very fast-run events in the States. On May 7th, ab Lexington, at the Spring Meeting of the Kentucky "Racing Association, a horse called Lotion, in a race for all ages, galloped home over a mile and seventy yards, with 7st 21b up, in Imin i6^sec. On the same day Jewell Ban, by King Ban, with Bst lib, galloped a mile and a-quartov in 2min B^-sec : thus beating the record made by Mentor at Fleming(-on by i«ec. That the track was fast is shown by the peiformance of a horse called Amos A., which cairied 7st 31b on the second day and yon a seven furlongs race in Imin 26|sec. The tive furlongs record of Imin OAsec was equalled at Louisville by Britannic. At the last named * meeting there was great excitement over the Kentucky Derby, in which Spokane defeated the champion colt of last season, Proctor Xott : the mile and a-half being covered in 2min 34^sec. They again met at the same meeting in a mile and a-quarter race, when Spokane again won in 2min msec. !
