GASPARINI INCIDENT.

In the House yesterday afternoon Sir G. Grey revived the question of the correspondence relating to the escapo of the convict Gasparini, by asking if Ministers were responsible for the letter which was written on the 4th inst. by the Governor to the ViceConsul of France ab Wellington, which is published in the Parliamentary papers relating to the escape of Gasparini. He said such a proceeding as the Governor writing to the Vice-Consul in a public manner was utterly opposed to the dignity and rank of His Excellency. In the letter, the ViceConsul, who is a foreigner, was informed that certain papers were no longer to be found in possession of the Governor. Another was pub in a manner to reflect upon the management ot the government; of this country. He said an injury had been done to the whole Government which was unparalleled, for in his letter the Governor states his deep regret that certain correspondence should have been printed, and speaks of the unjustifiable conduct of a gentleman who had been acting as his confidential adviser. The Premier said he had not yet had time to bring the matter before the Cabinet, and, at his request, Sir George Grey adjourned his question until next Tuesday.
