SINGAPORE'S SUCCESS.
In the race for the July Stakes at the 1 A. J.C Meeting, won by the "Hon. J. White's colt Singapore, punters had to lay 7 to 4 on him. The colt is described as being of the lazy tribe — a good fault — and gallops like a stayer. Up to the present; both Singapore and Nordenfeldt have repeated exactly the same things, though not in the same races. The first time Nordenfeldt started he did not get a place, but the second occasion found his number first on the board, and ditto Singapore, who claims being sired by Martini- Henri from Malacca (imp.), by King of the Forest from Catinka, by Paul Jones out of Ding Dong, by Kettledrum from Stella, by West Australian. Singapore's victory has entailed upon him a 51b penalty for the Melbourne Cup, which -brings his weight up to 7st3lb.
