THE GRAND NATIONAL HURDLE RACE.
The far-famed Dowling Forest stable had to be content with second place in the Y.R..C. Grand National Hurdle Race, run at Flemington last Saturday. At last advices, they had half-a-dozen representatives in the race, and backers were puzzling their brains to find the correct pea, &o it is fair to assume that by the defeat of Corythus, Scobie and Co. received a "facer." Redleap, the winner, is the property of the wealthy Mr Sep. Miller, who owns some of the most notable jumping horses in Victoria. He invariably has a good "lepper" at command, but he will be best known to race-goers here as the owner of William Tell, the Newmarket Handicap winner. The Grand National Steeplechase is to be decided this afternoon. Peter Osbeck is among the acceptors, but he will find the big jumps at Flemington more formidable than Randwick, while the cattle will be of a much superior class.
