MR O'BRIEN'S YOUNGSTERS.

I see by the Southern papers that Mr D. OBrien has lefc Christchurch on a short visit to Melbourne. The other day " Spectator " had a look at the youngsters he purchased at the last Sylvia Park sale, and this is what he says of them :— " After the jumpers had worked the other morning I saw Dan O'Brien's colfcs Gatling and Town Moor. Both are looking wonderfully improved ; Gatling has always been the most forward of the two, and is doing as well as a colt well can, but the St. Leger colt which I expressed my belief in when sold at the Sylvia Park sale, but who has always been the subject of unfavourable criticisms since his arrival in the South, has donel#B best of them all. Both colts move along in very nice style, and Gatling has many admirers, Town Moor will not

have so many detractors later on. Ho would beat the measurement of Mentor or Carbine round the arms or thighs at the present time. He is losing his unsightly bread-basket, improving about the neck, and coming up in the front a bit. Don't make any mistake. The fiddle headed son of St. Leger and Miss Laura want be a bad 'un.'"
