THE AUCKLAND TWO-YEAR-OLDS.
It is some years since we had so few two-year-olds in training in Auckland as this season. Totting the number up, I find that there are only nine in work. This, of course, is accounted for by the few local buyers at the last Sylvia Park sale. There may be a clinker among those being prepared, but when we allow for the mishaps that horseflesh is heir to, the outcome is not a bright one for our retaining the valuable juvenile races. The following are the names of those in work :—: — T. Hodson. Ch c Reprisal, by First King— Memphis B f Vendetta, by St. Albans— The Maid Ch f Miss Cole, by King Cole— Tenambra J. Kean. Br c Cambria, by Nordenfeldt — Erycina G. Wright. Br f Mary, by Nordenfeldt — Frailty H. Harbison. B c by St. Leger — Atalanta J. Rae. Ch c Focus, by Nordenfeldt — Leila J. French. Br f by Somnus — Fanny Fisher A. Skirvinu. Ch f by King Cole— Melody
