The Pre raicr has shown that the cost of compiling this return m ould be enormous, amounting to neaily £1,000 ; so Mr Monk had decided to withdraw his motion to-day. It fa expected that when the Property Tax Assessment Bill conies up tor its second leading, the Government Mill lay befoie tho House a mass of information relating to this and other matters connected with the tax that will be very interesting 1 . They are also compiling tables that show what will be the efiect of substituting a land and income tax for a property tax.
