DUNEDIN EXHIBITION.
On the motion of the Colonial Secretary the Bill to authorise a temporary closing of poitions of certain public streets in Dunedin for the Exhibition and to provide for the sale of intoxicating liquors at the Exhibition was read a second time yesterday. Referring to the opposition to the licensing clauses on the ground that they weie opposed to the local option vote for the distiict, he said it was obvious that the poll merely referred to the in ci case of permanent hotel licenses. Several members spoke on the question, the tempeiance advocates speaking against the licensing clause andgiving; noticeof their intention to move to have this clause struck out in Committee. Consideration of the estimates was resumed in Committee of Supply.
