TE AROHA.

A meeting of the Te Arohii Bund of Ilope was held in tho Wesleyan Cliurcli, on Thursday evening 1 , Rev S. Lawry piesiding. The piogranjme consisted of several musical selections from Iloyle's Temperance Song Book, including solas by Miss Wost, Mr Whitburn, and the Chairman ; two solos by a Native member of the Salvation Army ; address by Major Rolfe, recitations by Misses Ileppie Lawry, Minnie Bosspns, Tiney B,erger, Maggie Erasmus, Master John Erasmus, and " Phil Garlick," in character, and a reading by Mr Lovell r The several items were gone trough with good effect, the audience evidently enjoying the programme provided fqr them. While the last hymn vvas being sung several came forward and signed tho temperance pledge. At the conclusion of this part of the programme a number of magic lantern views were exhibited by Mr Lovell of Waiorongomai, The first set were illustrative of incidents in Bunyan's " Pilgrim's Progress." Then followed scenes of " The tale of a tub," and quite a number of amusing pictures, which were greatly enjoyed, especially by fhe youngsters. A number of kaleidoscopic yjews were quite a feature of tlie exhjbitipn, the eftects being vepy beautiful t f he meeting clpsed witljavoteof thanks to Mr fiOvelji for coming to exliibit the magic lantern.
