( Before H. W. Northcroft,Esq,Wa.rden). Applications for Licensed Holdings : John Squirrell, For Oceana Licensed Holding, Waiorongomai. Granted. Thornton Walker, for Hero Licensed Holding, Te Aroha. Adjourned for six months. Applications for Cancellation of Licenses, by the Mining Inspector for non working. Nevada Licensed Holding, Jas. Frater, registered owner. Mr E. Cameron appeared on behalf of Mr Frater, and said since the case was adjourned a month ago he had tried to come to some arrangements with Mr P. Ferguson as regards working the ground, putting in a tunnel, etc., but was unable to do so, and he now had no further objection to raise with respect to the Min~ ing Inspector's application to have t:>e ground forfeited. Foifeited, Bismarck Licensed Holding, Max Friedlander, registered owner : Mr E. Cameron appeared on behalf of the owner of this claim, which adjoins the Nevada, and said the same remarks applied to this case as to the last. Forfeited. Lord Nelson Licensed Holding, Matthew Edgar and E. B. Walker, registered owners : Adjourned for one month on application of Mr Walker, who stated he was now inviting tenders for driving and sinking in the claim, Silver Queen Licensed Holding, John Squirrell and Donald Munro, registered owners : Mr John Squirrell stated he had been unable to make satisfactory arrangements for working the ground since the case was adjourned a month ago. Forfeited. Ruby Licensed Holding, Thos. Goldswcrthy, S. L. Hirst, E, W. Hanmer, and W. T. Firth, registered owners : Mr T. Goldsworthy appealed on behalf of the owners and said two men were working on the ground, and he hoped to make arrangements in about a fortnight for working it regularly. Adjourned for one month. Monta Christo Licensed Holding, H Brett, registered owner: Mr E. Cameron appeared on behalf of the owner, and stated men had been employed on the ground for five or six months, and work had been only discontinued a couple of months. A great deal of prospecting and general work had been done. The owner of the ground had gone to the Paris Exhibition and for a trip Home. He (Cameron) expected to receive instructions with respect to carrying on future operations, but they had not yet come to hand, and he would ask that the case m'ght be adjourned for a month. Adjourned for a month. Mount Morgan Licensed Hoi ling, Geo. Lipsey, registered owner. The Mining Inspector stated the owners of this claim had informed him they had decided to discontinue working the ground. Forfeited. Montezuma Special Claim, Chas. A. Tonge, and P. Faes, registered owners . Mr E. A. Pavitt appeared on behalf of the owners, and stated they had experienced great difficulty in getting in calls to carry on work. They expected however to form a Company and carry on work systematically. Mr Thos. Quoi had the matter in hand he understood In reply to the Warden the Mining Inspector remarked it was an exceptionally long strip of ground, taking in all the line of reef possible, but if the owners were prepared to go' on and work the ground properly, ho had no desire to see the claim forfeited. Adjourned for one month. This was all the business.
