MORRINSVILLE. [From our own Correspondent.]

MoniuN9viLLE, Wednesday. I have just read Mr Geo. Smith's very plausible letter in to day's News. To say the least it has afforded me some amusement. What surprises me is that Mr Smith condescends to have anything to do with a paltry School Committee stall. Suchaman ought certainly aim to become a Licensing Commissioner, or M.H.R. It is certainly a pity to see him wasting his time in a place like Morrinsville, where the principal topic of conversation is respecting the school children's picnic, or, whether the temperance party shall be allowed the use of the school house for their meetings free of charge : or he made to pay half-a-crown a quarter for it. But putting joking aside Mr Editor, I think Mr Smith's letter should have appeared in your advertising columns. Any one with half an eye can sco that it is written in view of the forthcoming annual School Committee Election ; and isintended as a lollie-nop for some poor dupe to suck ; and so divert his attention from the actual condition of affairs since Mr Smith came into office ; and the upsetting of the annual school children's treat. But enough said, Mr Smith says there will yet be a picnic, and I hope to be there, tt listing he will reserve a good lump of cake for " our own correspondent."
