Pimmi Quartz G.M. Company (late Bedford and party, Surprise).- Tlie last crushing from this mine yielded a little over 2oz melted gold to the ton. Specimens are daily coming to hand. Mclnnis, the manager, is putting in a low level to follow up specimen leaders, which are very rich. Thk Polly (Collins, Nield and party). — This claim has 10 tons to gra&s and about 3c we picked stone, which will be put through the Surprise battery in a few days. It is expected that it will turn out at least 2oz to the ton. Coarse gold is showing every breaking down. Specimens are also met with; the reef averages four inches. A very rich leader 1 inch has been cub, running parallel with the main drive. The Success (OBrien and party) have driven about 70 feet, and expect in a few days to cut the Surprise reef. Thk Hidden Tkkasitrk.— A large parcel has just been crushed at the Thames, with the magnificent return of 2ozs 12d\vt« (melted gold) to the ton. This is pro vine a very valuable claim, as is also its neighbour, the Maori Chief. In the latter, the big reef is equal to loz to the ton. The leaders are very rich. —A Correspondent.

Thames, March 30. Caledonian. — The contractor? are making good headway with the drive. The reef is 2ft. in thickness, and carries some nice mineral, but no gold has yet been observed. Saxon.— The face of uhe drive at No. 5, or the low level, is at present occupied by a network of stringers, in consequenco of which progress is somewhat slow. The country is of a favourable description, but no gold has been seen lately in the 2ft. reef. The winze being sunk from No. 4 level to meet this drive has now attained a depth of 62ft., and is still being directed well into the hangingwall side of the reef, fo it is in the same bar of sund&tone and stringers, as the drive at No. 5 level. On tne whole, the various stopes are looking well throughout, and fci.e quartz therefiom has been shaping as usual at the battery. A& &ome slight alterations are to take place at the batben, the manager intends to clean up and letort tomorrow. May Quekn.— The City of York ?haft, from which this Company intend to carry on operations, has been cleared out for a depth of 9ft, which the contractors yesterday timbered up. They have now work in full swing, and it should not be long ere they complete the allotted distance of lOOit. Cambkia. — The leader cutyesterday in the cro°scub at No. 4 level is six inches thick, and carries excellent minerals, but although a further portion of it has been broken down, no gold has yet been seen. The winze at No. 3 level, which the crosscut referred to is being put in to meet, has attained a depth ot 46 feet, and colours of gold continue to be seen in both leaders in the bottom every time they are broken down. Big Pump. — Pumping was stopped yesterday to allow of communication being made with the new boiler recently added to the plant. This has now been done, and pumping operations were resumed last night.

Dunjsdin, March 30. The Gallant Tipperary mine at Arrow lias obtained 2720z retorted gold Irom 500 tons.
