TYPHOID IN MELBOURNE. DEATH OF AN AUCKLANDER. Auckland, March 28.
We learn from a press telegram received from Christchurch to-day, that " private intelligence had been received there staking I that Cosson, wellknown in running and footballing circles, died at Melbourne from typhoid fever." This message undoubtedly refers to Jack Cosson, a Parnell "boy," who played at one time as full-back, tor Ponsonby Football Club, and more recently as half-back for Grafton. He was one oi the best long distance runners ever trained in Auckland, and was also considered the most stylish runner in this parb of the colony. Ho took part some years ago in a race for the championship of Auckland with Shaw, but was then beaten after a hard struggle, the time being the fast record of 4min 26sec. Cosson was also a member of the Parnell Cricket Club. His old comrades will regret to hear of hit> early decease.
