Mr Soler, of Wanganui, was awarded third prize for red and white wines at the Exhibition.
Melbourne, March 25. Mr Moloney, solicitor, who is opposing the Premier, Mr Gillies, has sued the " Age " for .£5,000 damages, for alleged libel in connection with his candidature. Wheat has been sold at prices ranging down to 5s 6d, but the rate has now recovered to 5s 7CJ, at which price there is a strongly speculative demand. The market for oats is depressed, and New Zealand oats are at 3s iod to 3s ioUd. f
HoBxVRT, March 26. Sir William Jervois, the late Governor of New Zealand, who has just arrived here on his way to England, inspected the local defences yesterday. He expresssed himself highly pleased wilh the Maxim gun, with which experiments weie made.
