Assessment Court. ITE AKOHA. TUESDAY, MARCH 19th, 1889.
In accordance with public notice given to that effect, Mr Northcroft. ns Judge of the Assessment Court for the Te Aroha Towh District, Rat at 12 noon for the purpose of hearing and determining all objections to the Valuation Lists for the said district, in accordance with the provisions of the Bating Act, 1876. The Clerk of tho Town Board, and the Town Board in Court were called several times, but there was no appearauce of anyone to represent tho local body. * ■ * After waiting a few minutes -*His Worship adjourned the Court till 2 p\ni.; and subsequently sent out a messenger to try and hunt up tho Clerk ;, alt v th/e 'same time expressing great snrprjeS^ti/ no one being present to represent thtfepfeffd, and stating in all hia experience never known such a thing before, -.^a's an Assessment Couit to be fixed, -and no\ one appear to represent the local body concerned.

Ahier uppeared as Clerk to the Hoard, and stated no Valuation Roll had beo» prepared by the Town Board aa required by the Act. His Worship said that as no valuation had been prepared, he should now appoint Mr F. Pavitt as valuer, to prepare the necessary valuation lists.
