COUNTRY CORPS. ORDER TO BE IN READINESS.
The country corps have been nothing loth to take an active part in the expedition movement on the East C'oa&t Offers of the (services of several companies have been lccoived, and telegiams ha\e now been sent naming country corp3 to hold themselves in readiness for immediate active service.
When the order was received by Lieutenant Colonel Shepherd to despatch the a oKinteeis to Poverty Bay some assistance \\a& rendered by Captain Commandant Le Roy, That this has been appreciated by the Defence Mini-aer is evidenced from the following telegram which wa-. leccived thn mottiinrr by Captain Lelioy .- " Lieut. -Col. Shepherd repoits a^sibtance afioided by you in airanping for despatch of men to Opotiki, and the Hon. Detence Almistcr depuc& me to con\cy hi? thanks to you tor your imaluable co-oueia'iun."
