The Government are now folly alive to the serious aspect of affairs on the East Coast, and the necessity For the immediate arrest of Te Kooti is fully recognised. It is believed that should there be any resistence matters will take a serious turn. It was definitely decided this morning to send an armed force of seventy or eighty men from Auckland, under Capt. Morrison of the Permanent Force, to arrest Te Kooti. At noon a force of seventy to eighty men sailed in the* Ghelmsford amid the cheers of an enthusiastic crowd. It is expected the Ghelmsford will rkch Opotilri early tomorrow morning-, and the troops will at once move forward. Their instructions are to arrest Te Kooti, peaceably if possible ; bufc if not with force. The expectation of Government is that unless •resistance is offered Te Kooti will be a ;^|jj#oner, and on his way to Auckland to-morrow afternoon ; if resistence is offered, it is impossible to say what may be the outcome of the affair. The Star's special correspondent at Opotiki, wires , that Mr Bush, R.M., interviewed Te Kooti this morning, and understands from him that he will return to Waikato tomorrow.
