Tiirc ordinary monthly meeting of the Te A roh a District Libiary was held on Thursday evening last. Present : Me<*srs F. Pavitt (chairman), T. M. L-iwior, G. C. Deverill, and Rev R. Liwiy, Minut<>3 oE the previous meeting were lend, and confirmed, Librarian : Only one tender was received for the office of Lihiarian and Secretary (at a remnneiation of 5* per week and 25 per rent on all monies collected by him), that of Mr A. Wniorongomai, and asked him if he would be willing to receive book* at hks store, and distribute sntne from thence to Waioroneromai subscribers, and Mr Collins had readily consented to assist in this wnv, on the understanding he could cive notice at nny time to discontinue if he found cairvins* out the duties involved too much time and tiouble 5 and expressed his wi!lin»ne<? s to assist in extending the usefulness of *he Library as f;ir as possible. Mr Lawry further sated that any "Waio'oneromai residents he had spoken to on the matter appeared pleased at the proposed arrangement and inclined to join. lie thought, however, it. was desirable the proposed arrangement should bo discussed at a fuller meeting of the Committee, and would therefore give notice of p*.otion on the subject for next meeting as follows : 1. That Mr Collins offer to receive and distribute books for Waiorongoniai subscribers be accepted with thanks. 2. That the Librarian be requested to take an early opportunity of canvassing for subscribers at Waiorongomai on the following conditions: (a.) Books to bp selected at Mr Collins store from a full catalogue of trie Library, each subscriber being provided with a card for the inser- ; tion of numbers, (b.) That books be for- [ warded to Mr Collins on Tuesdays, ThnrsI d'avs, and Saturdays. , (c) That cards 5 with catalogue numbers of books required be left with Mr Collins at lea-^t seven days before the books ordered are wanted. 3. That cards suitably beaded and ruled 1 be prepared for the. use of subscribers, should a sufficient number be found willing to become members. 4. That the Secretary ascertain on what terms the books could be conveyed to and 1 from Waiorongomai on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, or other days if s decided on, Day of Meeting : Resolved, That the day fotf holding the ordinary monthly meeting of the Committee be the second Monday in eacn month at 8 p m. This was all the business. The Reading Room is open from 9.30 a.m. to 9 p.m, every week day, and books can be obtained fiom the. Library from 3 p m, to 4 p.m., and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. e^ch week day.
