TOWN BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Te Aroha Town Board, which should have been held on Saturday evening last, lapsed, no quorum being present, only one member, Mr' Ileathcots, putting in an appearance. , A meeting of the Board was held on Monday evening last. Present : Corns Gallagher (chairman), Heathcote, and Mills, Minutes : The minutes of the previous monthly meeting w;ere read and confirmed. Correspondence* Outward: ",A letter' was sent to the Auditor-General enclosing the sum of £1, the fee charged for auditing the Board'R books. Accounts : The following accounts were passed for payment : VV. Hethiington, £1 ; R. Michael, £1 Bs. An account from the Te Aroha and Ohinemuri News, for £5 7s 9d, held over from last monthly meeting, was brought up for consideration. Com Mills proposed that that portion of the account which had accrued since the new Board were elected be paid, and the balance stand over. In reply to a question as to how or when the balance was to be paid, Com Mills replied, let them sue us for it, then we shall find out who were the proprietors of the News at that time. No one seconding Com Mills proposition it lapsed. The Chairman remarked the advertising, and printing charged for had been authorised, and the Bond were responsible for its payment, and moved that the account as read be paid ; seconded by Com Heathcote and carried, Com Mills voting against. The Clerk stated the overdraft had been reduced to £35 10s 2d. Eates ; The C'erk in answer to a question from Com Mills stated the amount of rates still owing was £40 odd. It was resolved on the motion of Com Mills, to take legal action against all defaulting ratepayers by next Court day. Dog Fees : The Clerk said the amount of dog fees collected was ill 10s. This was all the business.
