TE AROHA RACE MEETING.

A meeting of (.lie Te Arohn Jockey Club Committee was held on Thursday evening last at the Hot Springs Hotel. Present : Messrs F. Pavitt (spc), T. Bradley, E. Gallagher, Gpo. Graves, A. Downes, R. Biennan. J, Don, M. Murphy, and J. Wiseman. Mr A. Downes was voted to the chair. The. minutes of the mooting lield on Saturday evening 1 last were read and confirmed. Correspondence: Prom E. C. Mti^oy Thompson, accepting the office of President, and stating his willingness to do all in his power to fuither the interests of the Club. From L. Adams, of Auckland, onvrins: five per cent for theright to woikthe totalisator at the raco meeting. The Secrotaiy (Mr F. P.iviU) stated that at the previous meeting Mr A lams gave a subscription of two guineas to thp Club, and lie thought it would bo as well to ask him to do so again. Tt was decided to accept Mr Ad \mV offer, the Secretary also to writ' 1 asking Mr Adams to subscribe to the Club as before. After some discussion the following programme was unanimously agreed upon : — Hurdle Race. 2 miles, over eight flightsof hurdles, 20sovs ; Maiden Plato, l^ miles, lOsovs, weight for age ; Te Aroha Jockey Club Handicap, 1| miles, 25sovs, a sweepstake of 10s each to go to second horse ; Trotting Race, about 3 miles, lOsovs : a sweepstake of 5s each to go to second horse ; Waiorongomat Handicap, 1£ miles, 15sovs ; a sweepstake of 10s each to go to secon 1 horse ; Novel Race, 1 mile, 15sovs ; Forced Handicap, 1 m.le, 7sovs.' The qualification foe was fixed at 10-;. On the motion of Mr Bradley, seconded by Mr Murphy it was resolved, That the races be hold on Saturday Oth March. Tt was also further resolved that, (he nominations close on February 15th ; weights declared on February 22nd, and acceptances sent to the Secretary not Inter tli in March Ist, On the motion of Mr .7. Wiseman, seconded by Mr J. Don, it was resolved that the minimum weight for the Novel Race he fixed at Sst. Charges of Admission : The following scale of charges w»* fi^c 1 for admission on to the course : A lults, Is ; horse and iider, 2s; one horse vehicle*, 2s G I ; two house do., ss; vehicles drawn bv more than two horses, 10s; one person to be admitted fice with each vehicle. The next mooting of tlio Committee was fixed for Thursday, 3 1st inst,, at the Palace Hotel, Mr Woods proposed a vote of thanks to the Chairman and the meeting closed.
