At the last monthly meeting- of Taaranga County Council before proceeding with the ordinary business a. special meeting was held. / °" The minutes of the special meeting having been read Or Crawford proposed that the minutes be confirmed, anil the Clerk instructed to forward a deßcrirtion of the new boundaries to the Government to be gazetted ; Cr Fra^eY seconded. " " Councillors Macmillan, Armstrong, and Lalley, protested against the confirming of tha special order, and Cr t Lalley walked oat, I The Chairman then pufc the proposition to the meeting and declared it carried, fonr voting for and two against i it, viz. : — For : Chairman, Councillors Fraaer, CrawforJ, and Kiilen. Against : Councillors Macmillan, and Armstrong. Cr Armstrong wished to hare his name recorded as voting against it. At the ordinary meeting th« following communication from Government, respecting the county boundary was read :—: — The Clerk, County Tauranga. Wellington, December 7th, 1888. Sir, — Referring to my letter of the ! 4th Qctober last, in answer to yours of the 24th September, applying for a return of all gold fields revenue derived from certain mines alleged to be situated within the County of Tauranga at Te | Aroha gold fields. I have now the honor, by direction of the Colonial Treasurer, to inform you that the- question of the boundary between the Counties of Piako and Tauranga, upon which depends the allocation of the gold fields revenue, having been referred by the Mines Department to the Assistant SurveyorGeneral, that officer has reported that the mines are within the Connty of Piako, and not in Tauranga. — I have, &c, James Gavin, Secretary to the Treasury. John Killen, Esq., Chairman County Council, Tauranga. Cr Macmillan, with reference to above letter, moved that the Clerk be instructed to write, stating that the official map of the Waste Lands Board in Auckland shows otherwise, — Seconded by Cr Killen and carried.
