London, January 15. A rumour has obtained currency to the effect that " Jack the Ripper,'' the alleged author of the recent Whitechapel horrots, has been captured, and a wild sensation has been created in the metropolis in consequence. Up to the present, however, the police have received no confirmation of the repoit, which is geneially discredited.
