Hpaocu Committee : The usual monthly meeting of the Waiorongomal School i Committee took place at the school honso on Monday evening lnat. Present: Messrs Baskett (chairman), Jennings, Lovell, nnd Beeson. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Teacher's Report : The head teacher i eported thn average attendance for the last quarter, ending December 81st, a £ 72 2, and stated there was only one pupil entitled to the Board's" certificate lor i»oo I attendance. Annual School Trent : It was reported the receipts from all sources amounted to some £1 \ 15s 4d ; the pxpenditure being as follows : Graves and Baskiville, LI 13s B^l ; A. A. Wallace, L 5 3s 9d ; prizes, L 3 7s 9d « total, 1,10 5s B£d : balance, LI 10s lid. It wa.s resolved fco reserve the balance of Ll 10s Hd as a neuclns for next year's treat. Concert and Dance (in aid of school funds account) :— Totnl receipts, L 9 12s; expenditure, hire pf hal), L(l; tickets, 5s ; stamps, etc., 4s 8d j biw hire, 15s; prizes for school children, 19s ; school cleaning, 5s ; Te Aroha. and Ohinemuri News, Ll 10s. Total,' L 4 18s 8d ; balance, net proceeds, Ij4 18s 4d. General News : A gentleman arrived here lnst nijrht, in connection with the Te Aroha Silver and Gold Mining Company. Mr IT. H. Adams has returned, and I am informed purposes getting down (as soon as the train is available) 100 tons of quarts from tbe Colonist mine. Work will bf resumed in the Alameda Special Claim shortly. Mr P. Ferguson it is expected will arrive in Auckland on the 11th inst. Mr J. OBrien has the .best 'show' of plums in this district. Mr Edmund Cookson has been appointed supervisor for tho completion of the Te Aroha S. and G. M. Co.'s water i ace extension, vice Mr J. Andrew*. Mr Graham has made a start with the erection of the hopper for the New Find mine. The alterations to the s.s. 'Liza June' are now almost completed ; and I understand Mr H. H. Adams (owner and Capt ), with Mr J. EUery ns chief engineer, purpose making a trip to the Cherry Grove on Saturday next.
