The detective^ have anested fames E. Carmichael, a clerk in the Enterprise Permanent Building Society, South Melbourne, for complicity in the robbery of a eaahbox containing £408 His account of the robbery, from the office contained discrepancies, and when iairly driven into a corner he confessed that he was aware of the robbery which was suggested and carried out by hit predecessor, a youth named Geo. Sharpham. On being arrested the latter afc first denied all knowledge of the affair, but he subsequently confessed, stating how he had disposed of the stolen nronertv.
