Concert at Waiorongomai.

The concert held in the Waioron^omai Public Hall on Friday evening, 21st insfc. (proceeds in aid of tbe public school fund), was very largely attended. The hall - was tastefully decorated for the occasion with ferns and other evergreens, banners, etc., by Mr Lovell and others ; the most conspicuous mofctos being " A Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year;'" '* Advance Waiorongomai," etc. The following programme waa successfully- carried out : — Part one : Duet, " Dream of Heaven," Misses E. Wainwright and Hirst ; aolo and chorus, " Qod Defend New Zealand," Miss t Berger and Company ; song, " The Cricket on the Hearth," Miss Cocks ; song, "The Last Sweet Words of Mother," Mr 'Xayhr 5 tableau (Ist part), "Beauty and the Beast," Children ; song (comic), Mr J. MeLiver ; sone, " Then You'll Remember Me," Miss E. Wainwright ; tableau (2mJ part), "Beauty and the Beast, " Children J. song, " The Little Clacker," Children ; (interval). " Part two : Overture, Miss E. Wainwri<>ht ; rounds " The Vacation Song," Children ; song, " The Lights of London Town," Miss Berger ; song, " Come Pretty Kobin," Miss Hirst ; song, " Lady Mine," Mrs Darby ; duet (piano), "The Maiden's Prayer," Mrs Lovell and Miss Wainwright ; recitation, " Leap Year," Miss Ethel Golds worthy; song, "Tit for Tat," Miss E. Wainwright; duet, Mr and Miss Cocks ; song (comic) Mr J. McLiver ; song ? " A Face to be Remember d," Mr Ellery ; solo (piano), Mrs W. S. Collins, The various contributors performed their several parts well ; Miss E. Wainwrighfs rendering of "Then You'll Remember Me,"' was particularly good, also Miss Berger' s singing, whilst little Miss Hirst was ijlso deservedly applauied for the excellent style in which she sung " Come Pretty; Robin," Mr J. McLiver's comicalities were also greatly appreciated, ; [in fact each item was excellently rendered. The . tableau, " Beauty and fhe Beast "was placed on the stage in f manner that evoked the warmest applause. The ' stage, was specially prepared for the' occasion^ being profusely decorated p whilst the representation of a waterfall in' the back giound looked chaViiiin^ and the dresses of those wh(> took pa ft, were very appropriate^an^i much aihpired, and evinced great taste arid originality on the part of Mrs Baskett, who davised the various I costumes, and ilevottjd agreat deal of time and trouble in in arranging and relu'arsing fqir the talfleau^ which, it is hoped, ' will be repeated at no distant date.
